Navy locates body of girlfriend of Sérgio Cabral's son.
Mariana Noleto is the fifth victim of the plane crash that occurred off the coast of Bahia last Friday.
The body of another victim of the helicopter crash in Trancoso, southern Bahia, was found last night. According to the Civil Police, the victim is Mariana Noleto, girlfriend of the son of the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Sérgio Cabral. The body was found floating in the sea and taken to the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) in Porto Seguro. She is the fifth fatality from the accident.
The search for the remaining missing persons in the plane crash resumed this morning. Navy divers are searching through the wreckage of the aircraft, about 250 meters from the coast, but are encountering difficulties because the structure is badly damaged and visibility is low.
The bodies of 3-year-old Luca Kfuri de Magalhães, 2-year-old Gabriel Kfuri, and their nanny, 49-year-old Norma Batista de Assunção, had already been recovered. Fernanda Kfuri, 34, was rescued alive and taken to the Deputado Luís Eduardo Magalhães Hospital, but did not survive. Teams are also searching for Jordana Kfuri and the businessman and pilot of the flight, Marcelo Almeida.
The pilot's license had expired and he was not qualified to fly at night, according to the website of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). Today, the agency is expected to provide more precise information about alleged irregularities in the pilot's qualifications.
