Margareth Menezes pays tribute to Preta Gil: "Inspiring, authentic and beloved"

247 - The Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, published this Sunday (20) a tribute to singer Preta Gil, who passed away this weekend. The farewell was published through the social network X (formerly Twitter) and includes words of affection, admiration and gratitude for the artist's career.
“Black, black, little black girl… Go in peace, my dear. I met you as a teenager and somehow watched you grow up and saw you transform into one of the most beloved, inspiring, and authentic artists in our country,” wrote Margareth. In an emotional tone, the minister highlighted the freedom with which Preta expressed herself and faced life's challenges: “Her free way of speaking and facing life, its joys and also its pains, without shame, without mincing words.”
The publication also extends to expressing solidarity with the Gil family. “You will be greatly missed, but you will also leave behind much beauty. To the Gil family, all my love and solidarity,” added the minister, naming the singer's family members: “My beloved Gil, Flora and Drão, Francisco, Maria, Nara, Bela, Bem, José, Marília, the whole family, my embrace. Thank you for so much love of life! Thank you, Pretinha.”
