Marcelo Auler: Parente's policies were defeated at the polls.
"Although he heads a public company, Parente has adopted a policy that caters not so much to the financial interests of the company and, even less so, of its employees," writes journalist Marcelo Auler; "It is worth remembering that this is a policy that was blatantly defeated at the polls in the 2014 election, and which was not part of the political program of the candidate elected as President of the Republic, Dilma Rousseff, who was deposed by the coup plotters. They only took over with the support of those defeated at the polls, such as the PSDB. Consequently, they handed Petrobras over to the PSDB," he states.

"It does indeed serve the interests of minority shareholders – since the majority shareholder is the government, and therefore the people – and of multinational corporations with which it conducts business. In doing so, it overrides the greater commitments that Petrobras, as a state-owned company, should have: to the Brazilian people and the development of the country.
