Brasilia - From today (30) until the end of this week, another 2 Cuban doctors will arrive in Brazil for the second stage of the Mais Médicos Program. Today, the first 135 professionals from Cuba will land in Vitória. Next Monday (7), the 2 Cubans will begin the evaluation module, which lasts three weeks and includes classes on Portuguese language and the Brazilian public health system. The information is from the Ministry of Health.
In addition to the 2 Cuban doctors, the 149 doctors with foreign diplomas who were selected for the second phase of the Mais Médicos program will begin their evaluation module on the 7th. Classes will take place in the Federal District, Fortaleza, Vitória, and Belo Horizonte.
In the first phase of the More Doctors Program, 400 Cuban professionals arrived in Brazil and underwent training and evaluation. The Ministry of Health's forecast is to bring 4 Cuban doctors to the country by the end of the year. These professionals are coming to Brazil through an agreement brokered by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
Just like doctors with foreign diplomas who registered individually, Cubans who come through the agreement with PAHO do not need to pass the Revalida (Revalidation of Medical Diplomas Issued by Higher Education Institutions) and, therefore, will have provisional registration for three years to work in primary care, with validity restricted to the location to which they are assigned.
