Most Brazilians reject Trump's criticism of the impeachment process against Bolsonaro, says Quaest.
Research reveals that 57% of respondents believe the US president should not comment on the legal proceedings against Bolsonaro.
247 - More than half of the Brazilian population considers the criticisms made by US President Donald Trump regarding the legal proceedings against former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for attempted coup d'état to be inappropriate. This is according to a survey released this Wednesday (16) by Genial/Quaest. The information is from CNN Brazil.
According to the survey, 57% of respondents said that Trump does not have the right to criticize the legal proceedings in which Bolsonaro is a defendant. Only 36% considered the former US president's statement legitimate, while 7% did not know or preferred not to comment. The survey interviewed 2.004 people in person between July 10 and 14. The margin of error is two percentage points and the confidence level is 95%.
The release of the data comes days after Donald Trump announced the imposition of a 50% tariff on Brazilian products imported by the United States, scheduled to begin on August 1st. In a letter sent to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), Trump harshly criticized the legal process involving Bolsonaro and described the case as a "witch hunt."
“I knew and interacted with former President Jair Bolsonaro, and I deeply respected him, as did most other world leaders,” Trump stated. “The way Brazil has treated former President Bolsonaro [...] is an international disgrace. This trial should not be happening. It’s a witch hunt that must end IMMEDIATELY!” he added.
