Magno Malta wants a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry in El Salvador to hear Bukele's testimony.
Senator advocates for closer inspection of Nayib Bukele's security plan, which resulted in the arrest of 78 gang members.
247 - The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on Organized Crime is analyzing two requests from Senator Magno Malta (PL-ES), who proposes an official visit to El Salvador to learn about the security model implemented by President Nayib Bukele. The information was released this Thursday (7) by the portal R7.
According to R7The congressman, who is hospitalized after surgery, also requested that Bukele be invited to speak directly to the CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry). According to Malta, the objective is to gain a deeper understanding of the so-called Territorial Control Plan, an initiative that led to the arrest of approximately 78 members of criminal factions and resulted in a significant drop in crime rates in the Central American country.
Magno Malta's proposal includes conducting investigations at the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) — a mega-prison complex built to house leaders of criminal organizations — and meetings with local public security authorities.
The senator emphasized that the purpose of the visit is not to replicate the Salvadoran model in Brazil, but rather to draw lessons that can inspire national public policies. “It’s not about copying models, but about learning from those who had the courage to confront the problem. The Brazilian people are held hostage by fear, and the State needs to reclaim its authority and guarantee the right to live in peace,” Malta stated.
