Machado says he paid more than R$ 70 million to Jucá, Sarney, and Renan.

Former Senator Sérgio Machado stated, in a series of testimonies after reaching a plea bargain agreement, that he collected and paid more than R$ 70 million diverted from Transpetro to the President of the Senate, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), Senator Romero Jucá (PMDB-RR), former President of the Republic José Sarney (PMDB-AP), among other PMDB leaders; he also said that he also supplied funds to the accounts of Senators Edison Lobão (PMDB-MA) and Jáder Barbalho (PMDB-PR).

247 - Former Senator Sérgio Machado stated, in a series of testimonies after reaching a plea bargain agreement, that he collected and paid more than R$ 70 million diverted from Transpetro to the President of the Senate, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL), Senator Romero Jucá (PMDB-RR), former President of the Republic José Sarney (PMDB-AP), among other PMDB leaders.

According to him, the most significant sum, R$ 30 million, was allocated to Renan, who was the one who nominated Machado to the presidency of Transpetro in 2003.

Sarney also received a significant sum, according to the accounting of the former president of Transpetro. Machado said he transferred approximately R$ 20 million to the former senator during his time at the head of the state-owned company.

Romero Jucá, who served as Planning Minister in the government of interim President Michel Temer for a week, received a similar amount to Sarney, around R$ 20 million.

Machado also said that he also supplied funds to the accounts of Senators Edison Lobão (PMDB-MA) and Jáder Barbalho (PMDB-PR).
