Lupi says he wants to testify before the INSS Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry: "I am available."
The first meeting of the CPMI is scheduled for this Tuesday (26), when requests for invitations and summons will be analyzed.
247 - Former Minister of Social Security, Carlos Lupi, stated in an interview with CNN Brazil This Monday (25) he is willing to appear immediately before the Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Committee (CPMI) investigating fraud at the National Social Security Institute (INSS). I am available,” Lupi told CNN Brasil.
The national president of the PDT also said he had asked Senator Leila Barros (PDT-DF) to bring to the commission his expression of interest in collaborating with the investigations from the beginning. “I want to provide clarifications,” he stated. The first meeting of the CPMI is scheduled for this Tuesday (26), when requests for invitations and summons will be analyzed. In the case of the former minister, government supporters should work to ensure that his appearance is by invitation, and not by summons, since he has already voluntarily signaled his presence.
Lupi also commented on the political scenario unfolding around the commission. He expressed concern about the opposition's victory, which managed to elect Senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG) as president of the CPMI and Congressman Alfredo Gaspar (União-AL) as rapporteur. According to the former minister, the conduct of the investigations should not be tainted by electoral interests. "They are turning [the INSS crisis] into an electoral debate. And that's not good for the investigation of the facts," he stated.
