Lula once again signals support for Pacheco and the PSD, but dodges questions about a possible vice-presidential candidate in 2026.
"I can't define the 2026 ticket. I only have an idea; there's no fixed deadline," stated the Workers' Party member.
247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated, this Wednesday (5), that it is not yet the time to define the presidential ticket for the 2026 elections. In an interview with radio stations in Minas Gerais, the head of the Executive also emphasized the alliance with the PSD, the party to which former Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco is affiliated.
"I can't define the 2026 ticket. I only have an idea; there's no fixed deadline, but there is a timeframe: the 2026 election," he stated.
"I think Pacheco has the right to take a vacation, to rest, we have all the time in the world, and when he returns, I would like a meeting with the PSD, with the participation of the PSD ministers, to discuss what we are going to do," said the PT member.
Lula also stated that he would support Pacheco should he decide to run for governor of Minas Gerais. However, at the time, the president avoided discussing the possibility of making the congressman head of a ministry, emphasizing that he is in no "hurry to make any [ministerial] reforms."
"Look, my dream with Pacheco is this: I've been trying for a long time to show that he is the most important public figure in Minas Gerais and that if he wants to be governor, he can be; he just needs to want it so we can work towards his election. He'll have to decide," he emphasized.
