Lula blames "genocidal maniac named Bolsonaro" for the death of a Workers' Party member in Mato Grosso.
The former president participated in the event in Taboão da Serra and also said that Bolsonaro didn't sleep after the Datafolha poll, in which the PT candidate leads with an 11-point advantage.
247 - During a campaign event this Saturday morning in Taboão da Serra, Greater São Paulo, former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) attributed responsibility for the death of woodcutter Benedito Cardoso dos Santos, 42, a supporter of his, to Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
Lula stated that he tried to locate the victim's family on Saturday morning (10), but was unable to. He said he asked Senator Paulo Rocha (PT-PA) to seek information about his relatives.
"The PT has an obligation to know everything in order to help this family that was a victim of the genocidal figure called Bolsonaro," said Lula.
This Thursday, in Confresa, 1.160 km from Cuiabá (Mato Grosso), the man who defended the former president was killed with knife and axe blows after an argument over political issues.
The perpetrator, Rafael de Oliveira, 24, told police that he supports Bolsonaro and that the disagreement between them began over political issues. The Mato Grosso court ordered the confessed killer's preventive detention.
According to authorities, the perpetrator attempted to decapitate the victim and, after the crime, filmed the body.
The former president participated in a rally in Taboão da Serra. At the event, Lula commented on a Datafolha poll released this Friday (9) and stated that Bolsonaro "didn't sleep" after the result. The survey showed Lula leading the first-round race with 45% of voting intentions, compared to Bolsonaro's 34%.
"The amount of money he's spending, the amount of things he's trying to do out of fear that we'll win there. I want him to know that he can give all the money in the world and he won't buy the conscience of 215 million Brazilians," said Lula, as reported by Folha de S. Paulo.
The former president was accompanied by his vice president, former governor Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), the PT candidate for governor of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad, and former governor Márcio França (PSB), candidate for the Senate on the ticket headed by Haddad.
