Lula wants homes in the "Minha Casa, Minha Vida" program to have balconies, says the Minister of Cities.
'Just because someone needs government support doesn't mean they can receive just any low-quality project. We have to offer the best possible service to the people,' said Jader Filho.
247 - The Minister of Cities, Jader Filho, stated that one of the priorities of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's (PT) government will be to revive the Minha Casa, Minha Vida program, which was dismantled during Jair Bolsonaro's (PL) administration. He also said that Lula requested that the affordable housing units included in the program have balconies.
"[Lula] says that the program has to bring dignity, help to reduce inequalities in the country," said Jader Filho, during his inauguration on Tuesday (3), according to the newspaper. Folha de S. Paul.
"Just because someone needs government support doesn't mean they can receive any old, low-quality project. On the contrary, we must offer the best possible service to the Brazilian people," he emphasized later. The minister also highlighted that the Lula government will not limit private investment in sanitation and will act in small municipalities and locations where the private sector has no interest.
"The sanitation framework needs to be created through dialogue. This issue is established in part by what the private sector will do, as well as the public sector. There are areas where the private sector has no interest, and that's where the public sector needs to be present," he stated.
