247 President Lula has said he will intensify his trips around Brazil in the coming weeks, and the agenda begins in Bahia, where he has confirmed his presence at the traditional July 2nd parade in Salvador — a date that marks the definitive expulsion of Portuguese troops from the region, considered by many to be the true Independence of Brazil.

Lula will be accompanied by allies from the Workers' Party, such as Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues, as well as representatives from various social movements, including the Unified Workers' Central (CUT) and the Landless Rural Workers' Movement (MST). The celebration is one of the most symbolic events in Bahia's culture and history, bringing together authorities and the general public in the streets of the capital.

In 2024, Lula participated in the July 2nd celebrations, defended a reinterpretation of the country's official history, and expressed his desire to transform the Bahian celebration into a second national Independence Day, alongside September 7th.

"The true Independence of Brazil was the end result of the expulsion of the last Portuguese, on July 2nd, in Salvador, Bahia, where there was fighting and heroic women who fought to guarantee freedom," he stated.

According to local press reports, Lula is also expected to participate in the inauguration of the new factory of the Chinese automaker BYD, in Camaçari. The start date of the factory's operation was reportedly changed precisely to accommodate the presidential visit. The current expectation is that the ceremony will take place on July 1st.

Although the President's press office has not yet confirmed the trip, the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, stated that the president intends to attend the BYD inauguration. "I spoke with him and he said: 'Have my schedule reviewed because I want to go'," he declared.
