Lula and the governor of Roraima discuss alternative income sources for gold miners, says Guajajara.

An external commission will be created to monitor the humanitarian crisis in Yanomami territory.

247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and the governor of Roraima, Antonio Denarium (PP), are studying an action to restore the income of illegal miners operating in the Yanomami Indigenous Territory, according to the Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Sonia Guajajara.
The minister is in the capital Boa Vista this Tuesday, the 7th, according to the newspaper. The Globe.

"The mayor of Boa Vista has been in talks with Funai (National Indian Foundation) and the Indigenous Health District. President Lula has been in direct contact with the governor of Roraima for joint action. We need municipal, state, and federal coordination," the minister highlighted in an interview with GloboNews.

Governor Denarium met this Tuesday with the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD), to discuss the same topic. According to O Globo, the governor discussed the creation of a social program for the miners who are leaving the reserve. The meeting also decided on the creation of an external commission to monitor the humanitarian crisis in Yanomami territory. 

According to the report, the team will initially consist of three senators from Roraima: Mecias de Jesus (Republicanos), Hiran Gonçalves (PP), and Chico Rodrigues (PSB). This group is expected to work alongside the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and the Ministries of Defense, Justice, and Human Rights.

The Defense and Human Rights ministries arrive in Boa Vista this Wednesday, the 8th. In addition to the ministries, a task force from the Armed Forces and the president of FUNAI (National Indian Foundation), Joenia Wapichana, will arrive to continue the emergency work during the crisis.
