Lula will advocate for combating the spread of lies and hate messages at UNESCO.
President Lula will send a letter to be read at the opening of the UNESCO "Internet For Trust" conference.
247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said that Brazil will defend the strengthening of human rights, democracy and the rule of law at the global conference “Internet For Trust”, promoted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Through his social media page, the president stated that he sent a letter that will be read at the opening of the congress, since he will not be attending the event in person.
"In response to the invitation I received from Director General @AAzoulay, I sent a letter that will be read at the opening, advocating for a global effort to ensure that digital platforms guarantee the strengthening of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law, rather than weakening them. The conference will be held between the 21st and 23rd of this month," Lula stated.
According to the president, the expectation is that the event will discuss "global strategies to combat the spread of lies and hate messages."
"I wish all participants at the Conference a great debate, hoping that it will point to global strategies to combat the spread of lies and hate messages," he added.
