Lula announces the creation of the 3rd edition of the Growth Acceleration Program, the "PAC".

Agency Brazil - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced today (May 1st), at an event held in São Paulo to celebrate International Workers' Day, that the federal government is set to launch a third edition of the Growth Acceleration Program (PAC). The promise is to boost the infrastructure sector.

Lula, who began his speech by thanking the Brazilian people for giving him another vote of confidence, stated that he intends to reinstate the Farmácia Popular program, which expands free access to medication, and adopt measures to ensure that socially vulnerable groups can receive medical care from specialists.

"We will ensure that the poor people of this country have the right to a specialist, so they don't die with a prescription on their bedside table," he said.

Another goal of the government is to complete the São Bernardo do Campo campus of the Federal University of ABC, inaugurate the campus of the Federal University of Osasco, and create a third educational institution in the eastern zone of the city of São Paulo.

"When Haddad was mayor, he donated the land, but to this day, no one has laid a single stone," Lula stated.

While the president expressed gratitude to his voters, he also criticized attacks from supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro for contributing to the spread of misinformation, which nearly undermined his third reelection. Lula reinforced the message that caution is needed when forwarding content that constitutes so-called misinformation. fake news.

"We cannot allow lies to continue prevailing in this country," he argued. "It was the truth that defeated the former president."

In citing the date celebrated today, Lula argued that, throughout "millennia of humanity's existence," gender inequality can no longer be tolerated in any area of ​​life, and that the same applies to the labor market. 

The head of the Executive Branch concluded his speech with a message about punishing those responsible for the acts related to the attempted coup on January 8th, when they sought to annul his victory over Jair Bolsonaro.

"Everyone will be arrested, because this is a true democracy," he said, concluding his speech to applause and shouts of "No amnesty" from the protesters.

Lula attended the event accompanied by a delegation composed of ministers Luiz Marinho, of Labor and Employment, Paulo Pimenta, of the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic, Paulo Teixeira, of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture, Cida Gonçalves, of Women, and the national president of the Workers' Party, federal deputy Gleisi Hoffmann.
