247 - The PT leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ) criticized this Wednesday (2) the submissive posture of former president Jair Bolsonaro to the president of the United States, Donald Trump, regarding the tariffs imposed on Brazil. Bolsonaro defended Trump's tariffs, arguing that the Brazilian government should reduce its own tariffs on American products and said that the trade war is the fault of Lula's (PT) "socialist mentality".

According to Lindbergh, Bolsonaro's stance is "unbelievable," since the tariffs harm various sectors of the Brazilian economy. "Bolsonaro's submissive and vassal-like posture towards Trump is unbelievable. At a time of unity among all Brazilian economic sectors, including agribusiness, around a tariff reciprocity project, whose report is by Senator and former Minister Tereza Cristina, the former president completely betrays national interests," he criticized.

The congressman concluded by mocking Trump and Bolsonaro's campaign slogans. "While the world is reacting, Bolsonaro preferred 'Great America Again' to 'Brazil above all else.' What a shame!" he lamented.

The Economic Reciprocity Law championed by Lindbergh was unanimously approved by the Senate. The proposal, which allows Brazil to adopt measures against economic retaliation from other countries, arrived in the Chamber of Deputies on Wednesday, counting on the support of Lula's government base and members of the rural caucus.

However, the opposition, led by the PL party, is attempting to obstruct legislative work in the Chamber of Deputies to pressure for a vote on the urgent request for the bill that provides amnesty to the coup plotters of January 8th.
