Leaders of the evangelical caucus are against taxing sports betting.

Congressman Marco Feliciano said that "the congressmen would have no way to explain to voters a vote in favor of the Provisional Measure."

247 - Leaders of the evangelical caucus in the Chamber of Deputies are organizing a movement against the provisional measure (MP) regulating and taxing sports betting, which is expected to be sent to Congress by the Ministry of Finance by the end of April.

According to the journalist's column William AmadoAccording to Metrópoles, one of the leaders of the caucus, Congressman Marco Feliciano (PL-SP), said that "the congressmen would have no way to explain to the voter a vote in favor of the Provisional Measure." He added, "Today, that is the spirit of the caucus." 

Congressman Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ) stated that the caucus is against any bill regarding gambling. “We are against any bill concerning gambling. Voting in favor [of the Provisional Measure] would be electoral fraud,” he affirmed. The president of the Evangelical Parliamentary Front – comprised of 135 congressmen and 12 senators – Congressman Eli Borges (PL-TO), also stated his opposition to gambling and affirmed that the caucus will oppose the Provisional Measure.
