PT leader defends CPI to investigate the illegalities pointed out by Aras in Lava Jato.
"Augusto Aras's accusation only strengthens something that the PT has been denouncing for a long time. We urgently need to open a CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) to address Operation Lava Jato," argued Congressman Enio Verri (PT-PR).
247 - The leader of the PT caucus in the Chamber, deputy Enio Verri (PR), defended the immediate installation of the Lava Jato CPI in a statement during the House's remote session, this Wednesday (29).
The parliamentarian highlighted that the latest accusations made by the Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, regarding the arsenal of personal data from Lava Jato against tens of thousands of people, only confirm the accusations that the PT (Workers' Party) had already made that this operation had transformed into a power project that weakened democracy in the country and helped elect Jair Bolsonaro.
“Augusto Aras’s accusation only strengthens something that the PT has been denouncing for a long time. We urgently need to open a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry to address Operation Lava Jato. It is necessary for all sectors of society to know exactly what role this Operation has been playing in Brazilian democracy,” the parliamentarian argued.
According to Enio Verri, this investigation could reveal, for example, why Operation Lava Jato so relentlessly persecuted the PT (Workers' Party), encouraging the 2016 coup against then-President Dilma Rousseff, imprisoning Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and preventing his candidacy in 2018. The PT member also emphasized that the economic objectives of Lava Jato, which bankrupted so many national companies and generated so much unemployment and misery, could also be exposed by the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI).
"The PT had already denounced that Lava Jato had transformed itself into a political party, that it had a specific role, that it was at the service of the great elites, of the financial market, and that it had a direct link with the United States, and whose objective was to destroy a party that was making profound changes in the country, and that was able to continue this project," he revealed.
