The leader of the PSDB party in the Chamber of Deputies described Bolsonaro's participation in the event as 'regrettable'.

"Those who truly defend democracy do not participate in or accept demonstrations that call for the closure of Congress and the Supreme Federal Court," stated the PSDB leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Carlos Sampaio (SP).

247 - The leader of the PSDB in the Chamber of Deputies, Carlos Sampaio (SP), described Jair Bolsonaro's participation in an event in Brasília to support the demonstration against the National Congress and the president of the Chamber, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), as "lamentable".

"On the day that Brazil is expected to surpass 100 cases of Covid-19, it is regrettable that Bolsonaro is once again demonstrating his support for a movement that goes against the guidelines of health authorities," said Sampaio, one of the parliamentarians who helped orchestrate the 2016 coup against President Dilma Rousseff's mandate.

He also criticized the attacks against journalists by Bolsonaro supporters. According to him, defenders of democracy do not participate in or accept movements where journalists are attacked and where attacks are made against the National Congress and the STF (Supreme Federal Court).

"These institutions are doing what the Constitution mandates and what the country expects: Congress is focused on approving important measures to combat the pandemic and mitigate its effects on the economy, while the Supreme Court is fulfilling its role of ensuring the legality of actions," Sampaio stated on his social media page.

"Furthermore, those who truly defend democracy do not participate in or accept demonstrations that call for the closure of Congress and the Supreme Federal Court," he added.
