In a statement, the Ministry of Justice affirmed that it “has promptly attended to all requests from the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro for the deployment of the National Force in the State, in support of federal and state public security agencies.” “Since 2023, there have been 11 requests for renewal of the National Public Security Force in the state of Rio de Janeiro. All have been granted.”

In a press conference, Cláudio Castro criticized the federal government and stated that the Armed Forces had denied three requests for support made by the Rio de Janeiro government. “We have already requested armored vehicles several times and all have been denied. They said that there had to be a GLO (Guarantee of Law and Order), because the personnel who operate the armored vehicles are federal employees. And the president is against the GLO.”
