Lewandowski leaves office with a smaller backlog of cases.
Since 2006, when the minister took office at the Supreme Court, the number of cases in his office has been reduced by 80%. The 1,7 cases that remain in his office as he assumes the presidency of the court represent only 3,3% of the current caseload of the Supreme Court, which is 56,7 cases.
STF - Upon assuming the Presidency of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) this Wednesday afternoon (10), Minister Ricardo Lewandowski will leave the office with the fewest number of cases in the Court. Since 2006, when the minister took office at the Supreme Court, the office's caseload has been reduced by 80%. The 1,7 cases that remain in the office correspond to only 3,3% of the current STF caseload, which is 56,7 cases.
An organizational mechanism for the office and the work of the staff was developed to allow for increased productivity year after year. In the first three years, Minister Lewandowski managed to reduce the backlog of cases by half. There were more than 8 at the time. In the last four years, the average backlog has remained at around 3 cases, which, according to the minister, is the result of teamwork.
"This result would not have been possible without the support of an entire team committed to providing swift and high-quality judicial services," says the president-elect of the Supreme Federal Court.
In addition to the cases he inherited upon taking office at the Supreme Federal Court (STF), over these eight years, approximately 50 new appeals and actions were distributed to Minister Lewandowski's office. Between 2010 and 2012, the minister balanced the Presidency of the Superior Electoral Court, the organization of general elections, and the intense work in the Supreme Court's plenary.
The case files left by Minister Ricardo Lewandowski will be passed on to the next member of the Court, to be nominated by the President of the Republic and approved by the Federal Senate.
Concentrated effort
The result was achieved despite the intense flow of new cases arriving at the Supreme Court's offices. There were 33 new cases filed in 2014, more than 3 per justice. To overcome the backlog and the influx of new cases, Justice Ricardo Lewandowski issued more than 4,6 rulings this year.
From 2006 to the present, there have been 72 decisions, including both single-judge and collegiate decisions, and he has drafted 10,6 collegiate decision summaries in which his vote determined the outcome of the trial.
Quality
In 2007, Minister Lewandowski's office obtained the ISO 9001 certification in recognition of the excellence of its services. ISO 9001 is a set of standards that guides companies and institutions in qualifying products and services offered to the public.
