247 - The launch of Aldo Rebelo's presidential pre-candidacy, by the Christian Democracy (DC) party, held on Saturday (31), brought together political figures from different ideological spectrums and governmental trajectories. The event took place at the headquarters of the Engineers' Union, in downtown São Paulo, and attracted former ministers who were part of the administrations of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), Michel Temer (MDB) and Jair Bolsonaro (PL), as well as former parliamentarians, union leaders and representatives of sectors linked to agriculture, mining and prospecting in the Amazon, reports the Folha de São Paulo.

One of the moments that attracted the most attention was the visit of the president of the PSD party, Gilberto Kassab. His unexpected presence prompted comments and jokes among the participants, suggesting that he had gone to register Aldo Rebelo as a party member. When questioned about the assumption, Kassab replied in a relaxed tone: "How did you guess?". The brief visit reinforced the atmosphere of curiosity surrounding the political maneuvering involving the pre-candidacy.

Among those present were Roberto Rodrigues, who headed the Ministry of Agriculture in Lula's government, Leandro Cruz, former Minister of Sports in Michel Temer's administration, and two former members of Jair Bolsonaro's top government: Admiral Bento Albuquerque, who headed the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and General Fernando Azevedo, former Minister of Defense. The packed auditorium also included union leaders, former federal deputies, and representatives of productive sectors.

One notable absence was that of Fabio Wajngarten, former Secretary of Social Communication for the Bolsonaro government, who had been mentioned as a possible vice-presidential candidate on Aldo Rebelo's ticket. Officially, the reason given for his absence was a family health issue. Behind the scenes, however, there is resistance from some of the pre-candidate's supporters to a potential alliance with Wajngarten.

In his speech, Aldo Rebelo addressed topics such as nationalism, economic development, and the importance of investments in science and technology to increase the country's competitiveness. The pre-candidate also defended mineral exploration in protected areas and the expansion of the agricultural frontier.

Aldo directed direct criticism at the Supreme Federal Court, especially regarding decisions that, according to him, exceeded the Judiciary's powers and encroached upon the competencies of the National Congress, such as in the debate on the temporal framework for indigenous lands. "The Supreme Court cannot be a power above the others. You cannot have this imbalance; it generates serious institutional insecurity," he stated.

During the event, supporters chanted slogans against the Court, in a chorus that echoed in the auditorium: "Aldo will rise, the robe will fall." The episode reinforced the critical tone towards the Supreme Court that marked the launch of his pre-candidacy and signaled the discourse that Aldo Rebelo is likely to adopt throughout his presidential pre-campaign.
