247 - Marco Antonio Martin Vargas, an electoral judge, ordered the release of the founder of Qualicorp, José Seripieri Filho. The measure extends to two other people also arrested last Tuesday, the 21st, in the operation involving Senator José Serra (PSDB-SP).

Report from the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper. It highlights that "the judge from São Paulo also accepted a security deposit of R$ 5 million proposed by Seripieri, an amount which, he said, guarantees eventual future compensation for damages, and revoked the asset freeze."

The article also reports that "for Martin Vargas, continued detention is no longer essential for the success of the investigations. The judge stated that the three suspects have already been interrogated and that the objects to be examined are already with the police, 'with no risk of destruction or concealment'."

Note from Celso Vilardi, lawyer for José Seripieri Filho:

The Judge of the First Electoral Zone of São Paulo, Marco Antonio Martin Vargas, responding to a request from the defense, revoked the temporary arrest of José Seripieri Filho. It was an unjustified arrest. It's fortunate that his release was expedited.
