247 - The group Jews for Democracy criticized the photo published by Jair Bolsonaro Next to General Augusto Heleno, head of the Institutional Security Office (GSI), with the words "God, Fatherland, Family".
The group recalled that this was the motto of Integralism, the "Brazilian fascism," which advocated xenophobic positions and favored eugenics.
"Antisemitism was common among members. Today Bolsonaro posted a photo with the slogan in the caption. If he honors, employs, and says fascist phrases, what is he?", the Jews are saying on Twitter.
According to the website Brazil SchoolThe motto of Integralism "serves as a starting point for understanding the proposals of the movement that became known as Brazilian fascism."
The slogan had already been used in the creation of the Alliance for Brazil party in 2019, launched by Bolsonaro. Now, however, Bolsonaro is using the slogan on behalf of his government, speaking as President of the Republic.
