The Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, did not want to comment today (7) on the arrest request – which would have been made to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) – of the president of the Senate, Renan Calheiros, the senator Romero Jucá (PMDB-RR), the former senator José Sarney (PMDB-AP) and the suspended president of the Chamber, Eduardo Cunha, for attempting to obstruct the investigations of Operation Lava Jato.

Upon leaving a meeting of the Superior Council of the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, Janot stated: "I confirm nothing."

Information about the arrest warrant was released today (7) by the newspaper O Globo. According to the newspaper, the case should be analyzed by Supreme Court Justice Teori Zavascki. The requests have been with the Justice for at least a week. Despite the repercussion of the case, the press offices of the Supreme Federal Court and the Attorney General's Office do not confirm the arrest warrants.
