Janot states that Lava Jato “is impersonal”

247 - According to the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, the investigations of Operation Lava Jato, which investigates cases of embezzlement and corruption at Petrobras, are conducted in an "impersonal" manner by the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office. Janot stated that the goal of the investigations is "clarification of the facts" and not "the protection of one person or another."
The statement can be seen as a message to the Speaker of the House, Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), who is among those being investigated and last week said that he is the target of a "personal feud" by Janot.
Janot's statement was made this Monday (11) during a ceremony to repatriate the restitution of R$ 157 million originating from Switzerland and held in accounts belonging to former Petrobras manager Pedro Barusco. "The results are visible, because the work is being conducted impartially. We are not looking to target one person or another. What we are looking for is clarification of the facts. From the clarification of the facts we arrive at the authorship that is necessary for criminal prosecution," said Janot.
"It is a cooperative, integrated, absolutely impersonal, professional effort whose sole objective is the complete elucidation of the facts, with the impartial attribution of responsibility to those who contributed to the commission of the illegal acts," he added.
