Lula Institute: Instead of a culture of armament, the State should provide public security.

"The tragedy that claimed the lives of students and staff at the Raul Brasil State School in Suzano, in addition to shocking the country, reignites the discussion about the dangers of relaxing the rules for gun ownership and carrying," states a note from the Lula Institute in solidarity with the families and victims of the tragedy in Suzano.

247 - The Lula Institute issued a statement of solidarity with the families and victims of the tragedy in Suzano, which claimed the lives of 10 people, including teenagers and children.

"The tragedy that claimed the lives of students and staff at the Raul Brasil State School in Suzano, in addition to shocking the country, reignites the discussion about the dangers of relaxing the rules for gun ownership and carrying," he points out.

The statement emphasizes that releasing more weapons onto the streets means "more insecurity, not the opposite." "Instead of promoting a culture of violence and armament, the State must understand public safety as its duty, so that cruel episodes like the one this morning do not happen," the institute points out.
