Infraero will be split into three new companies.
The Civil Aviation Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (SAC) intends to split Infraero into three companies, according to the minister of the department, Eliseu Padilha. He stated that the company would then have the following areas of operation: Infraero Serviços, dedicated to providing airport services; Infraero Participações, to operate in future concessions; and Infraero Navegação Aérea. "We want to take advantage of Infraero's recognized experience in the airport sector, since in addition to being the largest Brazilian company [in this area], Infraero is also the third largest in the world. Infraero Serviços will seek international partnerships to operate both domestically and internationally," said Padilha.
Brazil Agency - The Civil Aviation Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (SAC) intends to split Infraero into three companies, the minister of the department, Eliseu Padilha, announced today (12). According to him, the company would then have the following areas of operation: Infraero Serviços, intended for the provision of airport services; Infraero Participações, to operate in future concessions; and Infraero Navegação Aérea.
According to the minister, SAC is developing studies with the purpose of restructuring the company. "We want to take advantage of Infraero's recognized experience in the airport sector, since in addition to being the largest Brazilian company [in this area], Infraero is also the third largest in the world. Infraero Serviços will seek international partnerships to operate both internally and externally [in other countries]," said the minister moments before participating in a public hearing at the general committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
Regarding Infraero Participações, Padilha said that there is no definition yet on what the company's stake would be in future airport concessions. In the concessions already granted – at Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport, Viracopos International Airport (SP), São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport, Brasília International Airport – President Juscelino Kubitschek (DF), Confins International Airport – Tancredo Neves (MG) – Infraero's stake is up to 49%. Only at Augusto Severo International Airport in Natal (RN) is the percentage higher, since private sector interest was the lowest compared to the other airports granted.
"The amount of Infraero Participações' stake in the upcoming concessions has not yet been defined. By creating Infraero Air Navigation, we will differentiate [separate this service] from airport operations," the minister stated.
