247 - Declared ineligible by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and about to be arrested by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) for involvement in the coup plot, Jair Bolsonaro said this Wednesday (12) that, "for now", he is a candidate for the 2026 presidential elections.

He even dared to outline a political strategy for the election. “For now, I am a candidate. The other candidates out there, Gusttavo Lima, [Ronaldo] Caiado, [Romeu] Zema, they have their parties. I even think it would be good for their parties to launch their own candidates. In a second round, the parties unite, one of the two that made it to the second round. That would be the best thing to do,” he stated after meeting with the president of the PL party, Valdemar Costa Neto, in Brasília, according to [source missing]. CNN Brazil

Another highlight of Bolsonaro's speech was his defense of amnesty for those convicted for the coup attempts of January 8, 2023. His intention is to benefit from the pressure on the Supreme Court to escape imprisonment.
