Reuters - Monitoring of social media carried out by the Quaest institute on Wednesday indicated that most mentions in publications about the September 7th events were critical of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), especially for comments he made regarding First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro, which were seen as misogynistic by internet users.

According to monitoring conducted between midnight and 18 PM on Wednesday, 53% of the posts were critical of the president, while 45% were favorable and 2% were neutral. The peak of mentions occurred at 17 PM with the repercussion of the term "unbreakable," used by Bolsonaro to refer to himself in his speech in Brasília.

According to Quaest, the criticism of the president arose "mainly due to his misogynistic remarks about his wife during his speech at the Esplanade of Ministries."

In publications favorable to Bolsonaro, the highlights, according to the monitoring, were the themes of "reelection" and "criticism of the STF (Supreme Federal Court)."

In his speech on the Esplanade, Bolsonaro led a chant of "unbreakable" to refer to himself after mentioning the First Lady and made comparisons between his wife and sociologist Rosângela Silva, Janja, wife of his main rival in the race for the Planalto Palace, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). He called Michelle Bolsonaro a "princess" and told the men in the audience that they should also look for princesses to marry.

"Mentions containing the word 'imbrochável' or 'imbroxável' represented approximately 39,2 posts published by 25,87 unique authors. This represents an average of 1,5 posts per author during the selected period," said Quaest.

"The mentions mainly represented criticism of the president's misogynistic speech, and unfortunately, the word will go down in history representing the Bicentennial of Independence," the institute added.
