Haddad: "The fantasy" of Tarcísio as a centrist politician has been shattered.

The governor was a minister under Bolsonaro and even defended amnesty for the former president, who is a defendant in the investigation into the coup plot.

247 - Finance Minister Fernando Haddad said on Wednesday (3) that the “fantasy” of the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), as a centrist politician, and not as right or left, was shattered.

According to the Finance Minister, the governor is associated with Bolsonaro's ideology. Tarcísio was Minister of Infrastructure during Jair Bolsonaro's (PL) government and was elected in the state of São Paulo with the help of Bolsonaro's agenda.

“The fantasy has been shattered. Everyone wants to present him as a centrist, as someone who wasn't a Bolsonaro supporter. I was counting the days until that would be disproven. When President Lula said that Tarcísio doesn't exist without Bolsonaro, it's not to offend him, it's a fact,” Haddad said in an interview with RedeTV!.

The reason for the increase in criticism of the head of the São Paulo Executive was his favorable position on an amnesty project for Bolsonaro. The former president is a defendant in the investigation of the coup plot, is serving precautionary measures and is under house arrest. His trial at the Supreme Federal Court began this Tuesday (2).

Currently, Tarcísio is also being considered as a potential candidate for the 2026 presidential election. Defending amnesty for Bolsonaro would be a way to increase the likelihood of him receiving support from Bolsonaro's supporters next year.
