Guedes on the pre-salt oil reserves: 'In three or four months, we're going to sell them'
"I invite you to this new partnership. (...) You can go there to help finance our highways, pursue oil and gas concessions. In three or four months, we will sell the pre-salt reserves," said Minister Paulo Guedes during an event at the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington, this Monday (18); Guedes also said that President Jair Bolsonaro is "a guy with balls" to carry out the pension reform.
247 - Speaking to a group of American investors at the US Chamber of Commerce on Monday (18), Economy Minister Paulo Guedes offered one of Brazil's greatest natural resources at a bargain price: the pre-salt oil reserves.
"I invite you to this new partnership. (...) You can go there and help finance our highways, pursue oil and gas concessions. In three or four months, we will sell the pre-salt reserves," Guedes stated without any ceremony.
In his speech, he presented President Jair Bolsonaro as "a guy with the guts" to carry out the pension reform.
Earlier, Guedes met with Wilbur Ross (Department of Commerce) and Robert Lighthizer (USTR). During the meeting, he said he was questioned by the Americans about whether it wasn't crazy to talk about trade liberalization amidst US-China tensions. "The answer? Brazil has been asleep for decades and wants to liberalize its economy."
