A group of elite schools has released a letter criticizing the Minister of Education.

A group representing elite constructivist private schools in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Minas Gerais published a letter to the Minister of Education, Ricardo Vélez Rodriguez, asking him "not to allow the country to enter a path of regression"; the letter states that Rodriguez's declarations so far "leave much to be desired" and emphasizes that, "with so much intellectual background, it is difficult to believe that Your Excellency considers the 'School Without Parties' a 'fundamental measure'."

A report from the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo underlines another passage from the letter: "aUltimately, it's a group of amateurs who lack basic knowledge about education and who spread fantasies about the influence of political parties on students within elementary and high schools.

"The group that signed the manifesto includes Escola da Vila, in the west zone, and Escola Viva, in the south zone, both in São Paulo and with constructivist-influenced teaching methods. They are elite schools, considered benchmarks in the city, whose monthly fees are around R$ 4."

"For the group of schools, the new government's ideas are not aligned with contemporary pedagogies, 'discussed and studied in all countries of the world that are concerned with educating generations capable of interpreting reality in its complexity, in order to deal with the radical transformations resulting from the digital world.'"
