247 - Retirees and pensioners who had unauthorized association deductions from their INSS benefits will be reimbursed in a single installment, without order of priority. The information was confirmed this Wednesday (18) during a live broadcast with the Minister of the Attorney General's Office (AGU), Jorge Messias, and the president of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), Gilberto Waller Júnior. According to the Gov AgencyApproximately 3,2 million beneficiaries have already stated that they do not recognize the applied discounts.

“The payment will be made this year, in a very simplified way,” Messias stated. “Everyone will be reimbursed equally within the same period. There will be no prioritization list,” he reinforced. Gilberto Waller further detailed that the schedule will be organized in bi-weekly batches: “In a single month, two batches of beneficiaries will be paid.”

The Attorney General's Office (AGU) minister highlighted that the reimbursement will be advanced by the Federal Government, which will then take legal action against the entities responsible for the irregular deductions. "We are currently guaranteeing payment so that retirees and pensioners who were victims of this fraud can receive what they are entitled to, and so that we have the legal grounds to recover every cent we paid, through a legal action against these entities," he stated.

During the broadcast, the president of INSS also explained that there is no deadline for beneficiaries to question the deductions or request a refund. "As long as this procedure is open, they can contest it and, with the security of the Brazilian State, they will be reimbursed," said Waller. He added that the government is monitoring areas where digital communication is not effective in order to create proactive outreach strategies.

The Supreme Federal Court (STF) has scheduled a conciliation hearing for next Tuesday (24) as part of the legal action brought by the AGU to ensure compensation for the victims. The AGU's request also resulted in the suspension of the statute of limitations, allowing those affected to file lawsuits at any time. The hearing will be attended by representatives of the INSS, the Public Defender's Office of the Union and the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office.
