247 - The government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is considering raising the proposed salary increase for civil servants from 7,8% to 9%. The technical team is still doing the calculations. The meeting with civil servants has been scheduled for next Friday (10), in Brasília (DF). The information was published this Tuesday (7) by O Globo newspaper.
Unions representing civil servants have requested a 13,5% raise. The group wants benefits to be equalized with other branches of government by 2026. The government has R$ 11,2 billion available for the salary increase. Sources at the Ministry of Management, responsible for the negotiations, said that technicians confirmed the possibility of a 9% raise.
The Bolsonaro government did not give salary increases to civil servants. Salaries in entry-level federal civil service careers have not changed since 2017. State careers last received an adjustment in 2019, but that was part of a phased agreement made before Bolsonaro took office.
