Brazilian government negotiates with Venezuelan military to de-escalate tensions.

The Brazilian government stated that it is negotiating with Venezuelan military forces to reduce tensions on the border with the neighboring country, according to the newspaper O Globo; according to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense, some actions have already been taken by both countries; Venezuela has withdrawn its anti-riot vehicles from the border; Brazil has reinforced controls on Venezuelan immigrants.

247 - The Brazilian government stated that it is negotiating with Venezuelan military officials to reduce tensions on the border with the neighboring country, according to the newspaper O Globo. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense, some actions have already been taken by both countries. Venezuela has withdrawn its anti-riot vehicles from the border. Brazil has reinforced controls on Venezuelan immigrants. 

The report The document highlights that "the decision to remove the vehicles from the border was made after discussions with members of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB). 'Brazilian and Venezuelan military personnel negotiated on-site, and the inconvenience of the presence of this type of military equipment was understood,' the document states."

The article further adds: "The ministry also informed that the border remains open to receive refugees. 'The Ministry of Defense reiterates its confidence in an urgent solution to the situation in Venezuela,' the statement concludes."
