247 - The governors of the Northeast are aligned with Lula's policy of prioritizing the fight against hunger.

This became clear at the Northeast Consortium meeting held last week.

The nine members of the forum, who met in João Pessoa in preparation for the meeting that Lula will hold with all the governors of the country next Friday (27), left the place talking about the urgency of facing the problem among the northeasterners, reports the Dashboard from Folha de S.Paulo.

The governor of Pernambuco, Raquel Lyra (PSDB), joined the group that is mostly composed of allies of President Lula. At the end of the meeting, she said that the main challenge for the region is tackling poverty and hunger.

Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT), governor of Bahia, stated that it is impossible to achieve a standard of happiness "while there is a single person in the Northeast who is hungry," and the governor of Ceará, Elmano de Freitas (PT), spoke of combining experiences and public policies so "that our people do not suffer this way."
