Gleisi: Vox Populi poll results thrilled Lula
The Vox Populi/CUT electoral survey, released this Thursday (26), excited Lula and gave him more energy to face the adversities of prison, reports Senator Gleisi Hoffmann, who was at the Federal Police Superintendency in Curitiba; "I came to have a meeting with him and discuss political issues, our convention, but above all to show him the approval ratings he has, the voting intentions that the people are giving him, the PT's position in society. He told me that what keeps him resisting is this hope of the Brazilian people to have him as president of the Republic again," said Gleisi.
247 - The Vox Populi/CUT electoral poll, released this Thursday (26), excited Lula and gave him more energy to face the adversities of prison, reports Senator Gleisi Hoffmann, who was at the Federal Police Superintendency in Curitiba. "V"I intend to have a meeting with him to discuss political issues, our convention, but above all to show him his approval ratings, the voting intentions the people are giving him, and the PT's position in society. He told me that what keeps him resisting is this hope of the Brazilian people to have him as president of the Republic again," said Gleisi.
"Even after more than three months of unjust and illegal imprisonment, Lula continues to grow in voter preference," Gleisi emphasized. "Once again, the polls show this: the resilience of the popular vote for President Lula. He is the person capable of pulling the country out of the crisis, of pacifying Brazil and giving us back the inclusive development that we had begun to build," she said.
The support of the people - The fact that he received 41% of the vote in the polls – it's the moral strength that sustains Lula at this moment, Gleisi emphasized. "He believes that if it weren't for that, given his responsibility to the Brazilian people, he might not be able to endure this situation, which is very difficult," she stated. "We're already going on 112 days of imprisonment, 111 today, which is very painful for him and his family," she added.
She reaffirmed the plan to register Lula's candidacy on August 15th, with a large popular mobilization in Brasília. "Our priority is to contest the presidential election with Lula, win, and resume the country's development. That is our plan," she stated.
Lula's political and electoral strength is so great that there's no way to remove him from the presidential elections, Gleisi stated. "Lula is already in the electoral race. Lula is at the center of political discussions in the country. You can't discuss elections without Lula. He's the one with popular support," she observed.
