Gleisi says Tarcísio is "shameless" for talking about a "moral crisis" in Brazil.
Minister criticizes governor and questions relationship with Fabiano Zettel, arrested in the Master case.
247 - The Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann (PT), said this Friday (30) that it is “very cheeky” for the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), to speak of a “moral crisis” when commenting on the controversies involving the Supreme Federal Court (STF) minister in the Master case.
In a post on her social media, Minister Gleisi Hoffmann reacted harshly to Tarcísio's statements and broadened her criticism of the economic legacy of former President Jair Bolsonaro's government. According to her, there is a contradiction between the moralizing discourse and the political and financial ties surrounding the governor's allied group.
"It's incredibly brazen of Tarcísio Freitas to leave Papuda prison talking about a 'moral crisis,' when the biggest individual financier of his and Bolsonaro's campaigns was Daniel Vorcaro's brother-in-law from Master, Fabiano Zettel, who was arrested by the Federal Police," the minister stated.
According to the Minister of Institutional Relations, the country faces fiscal challenges not because of recent decisions, but because of choices made by the previous administration. "And it was the Bolsonaro government that created a 'fiscal crisis' in the country, leaving a deficit of R$ 255 billion for the Lula government to pay and disrupting the country's finances and economy," she stated.
Last week, Tarcísio stated that the country is facing a "moral crisis worse than the fiscal crisis." "We are living through a very serious moral crisis," declared the governor. According to him, this crisis is worse than the fiscal one because it "ruins institutions" and reflects a recurring disrespect for the functioning of Brazilian institutions. Tarcísio argued that it is necessary to "turn the page" to reverse the scenario of weariness and impatience among the population.
