Gilmar: Tension over AP 470 caused discussion in the Supreme Court.

The minister lamented the conflict between the court's president, Joaquim Barbosa, and Ricardo Lewandowski, but believes the episode will be overcome; "Eventually, we see this type of situation during debates that become exacerbated, largely due to the existing tension"; Gilmar Mendes did not mention, however, the fact that Barbosa has been involved in discussions since the beginning of the trial.

247 – Supreme Court Justice Gilmar Mendes attributed the tension caused in the court by the 'mensalão' trial to the discussion that occurred last week between the president of the STF, Joaquim Barbosa, and Ricardo Lewandowski. He regretted the conflict, in which Barbosa accused Lewandowski of "chicanery," but believes that the episode will be overcome after the two address the issue internally.

"Eventually, we see this type of situation during debates that escalate, largely due to the existing tension," said Gilmar, who is participating in a forum in Salvador this Monday, the 19th. The minister did not mention, however, the fact that Barbosa has been at the center of discussions since the beginning of the trial of Criminal Action 470, last year.

Gilmar was the second minister to declare today that the internal crisis will be overcome. EarlierLuiz Fux said the trial should resume "normally" next Wednesday. Gilmar Mendes said he expects the analysis of the declaratory appeals, which began last Wednesday when the second stage of the trial started, to be completed by the second week of September.
