COMPLAINT

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Gilmar Mendes has filed a criminal complaint against José de Abreu for comments the actor made against him on Twitter. In December, Abreu stated that the magistrate had hired a wiretapper sentenced to 19 years in prison. "And what about the person who hired him? Control of the facts?", he added.

COMPLAINT 2

The problem is that the information that Mendes hired a spy, published in a major newspaper, is false and had already been denied. Abreu, who in 2012 even retracted his statement in court for calling Mendes "corrupt," says he will now take the case forward. "Last time I was wrong and apologized. This time I want to discuss freedom of expression."

HOSPITAL

Mendes intends to file, in addition to the criminal complaint, a lawsuit for damages due to the series of messages about him that the actor has already posted on the internet. If he wins, he will donate the money to a hospital in Diamantino (MT), his hometown.
