Gaviões defines samba in homage to Lula

The Gaviões da Fiel samba school defined in the early hours of this Saturday (8), the samba-enredo for the 2012 carnival. The official anthem in homage to former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, which will be taken to the Anhembi catwalk, will have as its theme: "You will see that the faithful son does not flee from the fight - Lula the portrait of a nation".
Four samba songs reached the final round after five consecutive weeks of competition among 16 entries, all accompanied by the "Ritimão" drum section. Carnival designer Igo Carneiro said that "the theme is about a figure (former president Lula) with whom the Corinthians nation identifies because he is a Corinthians fan and because of his trajectory of overcoming adversity." According to him, the competition was one of the most intense in recent years due to the high quality of the songs. The decision, around 5 a.m., rested with the board of directors, in a tie-breaking vote. "We wanted the samba to also be a channel for identification with the fans, to make them sing along on the avenue," stated Carneiro.
The godmother of the selection, Sabrina Satto, participated in the presentations. It is expected that Lula will be present at the costume launch party, the date of which is yet to be determined. The first rehearsal of the samba theme song will take place next weekend. In 2012, the Gaviões da Fiel samba will be written by: Grandão, Batata, Netinho, Max, Dentinho, Luciano, Mariano Araújo and Magrão R1. Check out the lyrics below:
