FUP welcomes the announcement of Petrobras' new board of directors, but maintains the national strike against privatizations.
The move came after the company's former executive board decided to resume the asset transfer process.
247 - The Unified Federation of Oil Workers (FUP) released a statement this Thursday (23) welcoming the announcement of Petrobras' new executive board and stating that he will closely monitor the performance of the new executives at the state-owned company.
The note clarifies that the entity will maintain the national strike on Friday (24) against the privatization of the company's assets. The movement came after the company's former executive board decided to resume the process of transferring assets that had signed sales contracts, contrary to the recommendation of the Ministry of Mines and Energy to suspend sales for 90 days.

FUP celebrates change of leadership, but maintains national strike on the 24th.
“Finally, after pressure from the oil workers' union movement, Petrobras has appointed the new board of directors, who will take office on the 29th,” celebrates Deyvid Bacelar, general coordinator of the Unified Federation of Oil Workers (FUP), regarding the announcement made by the company on Wednesday night, the 22nd.
“We will maintain the national strike on Friday (24) and the schedule of assemblies to decide on the state of strike, because, although we have made progress in relation to the definition of the board, we still need to guarantee the suspension of ongoing privatizations,” he says.
Petrobras published a statement yesterday announcing the new names for the company's board of directors, which were submitted to internal corporate governance procedures, including review by the People Committee and deliberation by the Board of Directors, which also approved a two-year term for Jean Paul Prates, the company's president.
FUP guarantees that it will continue to monitor the new management, which means maintaining a critical stance when necessary, pointing out possible errors and recognizing successes. "We hope that the new executive board will review the position of the previous one and that the Board of Directors will suspend, at the next meeting, the sale of projects that already have pre-contracts signed, respecting the MME's official communication," reinforces Bacelar.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) sent a letter to Petrobras on March 1st, requesting a 90-day suspension of the sale of the oil company's assets for analysis and reassessment of ongoing negotiations. Despite this, the Board of Directors has not yet responded to the federal government's request.
Strike on Friday (24)
FUP and its unions will hold a national strike tomorrow (24), with assemblies at the bases to approve a state of strike against the continuation of the asset sale process and against the continuity of managers aligned with the previous government, who remain at Petrobrás, contradicting the project elected at the polls.
