247 - Lawyer Daniel Gerber, who represents financial market operator Lúcio Funaro, arrested this Friday, May 1st, by the Federal Police in Operation Sépsis, the new phase of Lava Jato, says that his client will not make a plea bargain agreement.

"It's ruled out, because there's nothing to report," he stated, asserting the money launderer's "innocence." He said he hadn't had access to the case files and that he had requested copies of the investigation documents.

According to him, as reported on Fausto Macedo's blog, "starting Monday, the defense will take the appropriate measures."

According to investigations, Funaro acted as a financial operator for the suspended president of the Chamber of Deputies, Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), receiving bribes from companies interested in the release of funds from the Investment Fund of the Severance Indemnity Fund (FI-FGTS). According to the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot, Funaro has a "long and intimate" relationship with Cunha.
