247 - The government has extended the deadline for CACs (hunters, shooters and collectors) to re-register weapons to May 3, according to a decree published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Tuesday (28). The previous deadline was April 3.
According to FSPDuring a hearing in the Chamber of Deputies this Tuesday, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, said that the number of weapons re-registered exceeded the number of weapons previously registered in the country.
"In other words, those who said we were going to confiscate weapons can see that those who were in debt have come to justice," the minister said at the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Chamber of Deputies. The extension of the deadline was requested by parliamentarians.
In a report released on March 20th, the Ministry of Justice informed that the re-registration process had reached 80%, equivalent to 613 weapons, most of which are permitted for use. The estimated number of weapons that need to be re-registered is up to 800.
