Juliana Marins' family appeals to the courts and requests a new autopsy
Brazilian tourist died as a result of a fall while hiking.
Brazil Agency - The family of Brazilian Juliana Marins, who died in an accident on Mount Rinjani, in Indonesia, has requested a new autopsy of the body. The request was made to the Federal Court to clarify the cause of death. The procedure should be carried out when her body arrives in Brazil, which should happen on Wednesday (2).
“We believe in the Brazilian Federal Judiciary and hope for a positive decision in the next few hours,” Juliana’s sister, Mariana Marins, said via social media.
The request was made via the Public Defender's Office of the Union in Rio de Janeiro (DPU-RJ), with the assistance of the City of Niterói, the city in Rio de Janeiro where Juliana lived.
The Brazilian woman's body was recovered on Wednesday (25), four days after Juliana fell and rolled hundreds of meters while hiking on the edge of the volcano. The accident occurred on Saturday (21), but only on Tuesday (24) did the rescue team manage to find Juliana, already lifeless.
An autopsy conducted by forensic experts in Indonesia concluded that the tourist died from hemorrhaging, caused by damage to internal organs and bone fractures. According to forensic experts, the injuries were caused by blunt force trauma.
Transfer
Juliana's body will leave Indonesia this Tuesday (1st). According to Emirates airline, the flight will initially go to Dubai. There, the coffin will be transferred to another aircraft which, on Wednesday (2), will go to Rio de Janeiro. The flight is expected to arrive in Rio de Janeiro at 15:50 pm on Wednesday (2).
