Brazilian Air Force (FAB) conducted 22 flights over the weekend alone.
Five of them took routes identical to commercial flights that departed almost simultaneously. This was the case with the flight between Brasília and Belo Horizonte taken at 20 pm on Friday by Minister Fernando Pimentel, who brought two guests. The same happened with the flight taken by Minister José Eduardo Cardozo at 18 pm on Friday to São Paulo, with seven other people – he gave a ride to the Minister of Policies for Women, Eleonora Menicucci.
247 The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) began releasing on Monday the list of flights on its aircraft, including route, time, who requested the flight, and total number of passengers. However, it does not disclose who the passengers are.
This past weekend alone, from Friday to Sunday, 22 flights were carried out, transporting 141 passengers.
According to information from Globo, five of them followed identical routes to commercial flights that departed almost simultaneously. This was the case with the flight between Brasília and Belo Horizonte, which took place at 20 pm on Friday, carried out by Minister Fernando Pimentel, who brought two guests. Between 20 pm and 21 pm, there are traditionally two commercial flights departing from Brasília to the capital of Minas Gerais.
The same thing happened with the flight taken by Minister José Eduardo Cardozo at 18 pm on Friday to São Paulo. He and seven other people, advisors and security personnel, according to the ministry, shared a flight with the Minister of Policies for Women, Eleonora Menicucci. Between 18 pm and 19 pm on Friday, at least three commercial flights depart between the federal capital and the capital of São Paulo.
The list of FAB (Brazilian Air Force) flights on Sunday also shows that the Minister of Social Development and Fight against Hunger, Tereza Campello, requested an aircraft for a medical emergency, bound for Campinas, where she landed at 9:20 am. The ministry's press office had not yet disclosed the reason for the trip by 21 pm.
Senate to investigate suspected abuses
The Board of Directors of the Federal Senate approved this Thursday (11) a request for information on all flights of Brazilian Air Force (FAB) aircraft between 2010 and 2013. The Ministry of Defense will have 30 days to disclose the information. The request was authored by Senator Aloysio Nunes (SP), leader of the PSDB in the Senate, and was unanimously approved by the Board.
The request was submitted after reports in the newspaper "Folha de S. Paulo" last week showed cases in which authorities used FAB (Brazilian Air Force) planes either for personal appointments or to attend official engagements, but giving rides to relatives.
