'The army ceased to be an army and became a fascist militia in the events of January 8th,' says Michel Gherman.
In an interview with TV 247, a researcher of Nazism said that Jair Bolsonaro produced a "fascist grammar."
247 - Professor of Sociology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and director of the Brazil-Israel Institute, Michel Gherman, analyzed this Monday (24) the country's political scenario after the release of images of Bolsonaro supporters attacking the Planalto Palace.
In an interview with the program Boa Noite 247, on TV 247, Gherman stated that former president Jair Bolsonaro produced a fascist grammar. "The Army, on January 8th, and we saw this happen, ceased to function as a modern force and became an authoritarian, reactionary force, a force linked to the past. The Army stopped being an army and became a militia typical of fascist militias," the researcher stated.
According to Michel Gherman, sectors of the left had great difficulty in realizing that the Bolsonarism project in 2016 and 2017 was already a "far-right fascist project." "The traditional media, in fact, supported this project in some sense and did not take into account Bolsonaro's clearly fascist statements. We are talking about a person who has praised Adolf Hitler since the 1990s," he stated.
According to the researcher, by failing to be re-elected, Bolsonaro ceases to be the mediator of hatred through politics. "He disappears and the underground becomes the surface. So, the child who is 14 years old today, from ten to fourteen they lived with Bolsonaro. Now with Bolsonaro defeated, what remains among young people is suicide, destruction, and death," stated Michel Gherman.
