247 - Former ministers in Jair Bolsonaro's (PL) government who received luxury Cartier watches, valued at approximately R$50 each, from Qatari authorities in 2019, have not yet returned the items to the Brazilian government. This information comes from a column by journalist [name missing]. Igor GadelhaAccording to Metrópoles, the luxury items were received by former ministers Ernesto Araújo (Foreign Affairs), Osmar Terra (Citizenship), Gilson Machado (Tourism), Onyx Lorenzoni (Labor), and Augusto Heleno (GSI).

In addition to them, former Apex president Sergio Segovia and former Economy Ministry advisor Caio Megale, who were part of the second tier of the Bolsonaro government, were also awarded the same watch.

In March 2023, the Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) stated that the gifts exceeded the "limits of reasonableness" and violated the principle of "public morality," but left a loophole allowing for the items to be compulsorily returned.

At the time, TCU Minister Antônio Anastasia said that "the collection of the watches could be the responsibility of the General Secretariat and the Ethics Committee of the Presidency of the Republic."
