Brasilia 247 – Former district deputy Júnior Brunelli finally surrendered to the police on Sunday afternoon (27). The politician had been on the run since Friday (25) when the Civil Police launched Operation Hofini, which investigates the embezzlement of funds from Sedest.
Brunelli presented himself to the 5th Police Station, located in the South Commercial Sector, on Sunday afternoon. The former parliamentarian was accompanied by his lawyers.
Yesterday (26), the politician's lawyers filed a habeas corpus with the Court of Justice of the Federal District and Territories (TJDFT) requesting that the prerogatives of a lawyer be upheld so that he could get rid of the handcuffs, the spotlight and the bars when he presented himself to the police.
In addition to Brunelli, three people were arrested on suspicion of participating in the scheme that diverted at least R$ 1,7 million from programs aimed at improving the quality of life for the elderly. The former parliamentarian's advisor Adilson de Oliveira, 46, the accountant Carlos Antônio Carneiro, 41, and the businessman Spartacus Savite, 39, were all arrested last Friday (25).
